One of the things we did on the island is visit a grounded Concorde. There were 14 planes in all, and only 4 regular airports they flew out of, one of them being the airport on Barbados. The Concorde could fly at twice the speed of sound, so a trans-Atlantic flight from London to Barbados took less than 5 hours. They ended up costing too much to maintain so flights were discontinued a few years ago. (Would you have paid $10,000 for one round-trip flight?)
